Terms of Service
Welcome
Welcome to Norrith. These Terms of Service ("Terms") are an agreement between you and Norrith Labs Inc. ("Norrith", "we", "us") governing your use of the Norrith mobile app and related services (the "Service"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the Service.
Who can use Norrith
You must be at least 19 years old, which meets or exceeds the age of majority in every Canadian province and territory, and able to form a binding contract, to use the Service. You confirm your age when you create an account. If you use Norrith on behalf of someone else, you confirm you're authorized to do so.
What Norrith is and isn't
Norrith helps you see your accounts, track spending, set budgets and goals, and get insights about your money. Norrith is an informational tool. It is not a bank, lender, broker, investment adviser, tax adviser, or financial planner, and nothing in the Service is financial, investment, tax, or legal advice. You're responsible for your own financial decisions. Always confirm important numbers with your financial institution.
Connecting your accounts
Norrith uses third-party providers (including Plaid) to securely connect to your financial institutions on a read-only basis. We don't see or store your bank login credentials. Your use of those connections is also subject to the providers' and your institutions' own terms. Account data may be delayed, incomplete, or occasionally inaccurate; Norrith isn't responsible for third-party data or outages.
AI features
Norrith includes AI features (including "Ask Norrith" and automated insights). They are off by default and consent-gated. When enabled, they send your prompt together with certain financial information to a third-party AI provider, which generates the response; a separate, off-by-default "detailed mode" shares additional detail (such as account balances and recent transactions). Our Privacy Policy (§5) describes exactly what is sent, to whom, and under which setting. AI output is generated from your data and may be incomplete or inaccurate, and it is not advice. Don't rely on it for decisions without verifying. You can turn AI features, and detailed mode, on or off in the app at any time.
Your account
You're responsible for keeping your account credentials and device secure, and for activity under your account. Tell us promptly if you suspect unauthorized access. We may enable security features such as biometric lock and two-factor authentication.
Your data and privacy
Your use of Norrith is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which explains what we collect and how we use it. You retain ownership of your data; you grant us a limited licence to process it solely to provide and improve the Service as described in the Privacy Policy. You can withdraw consent for optional processing (including AI features, analytics, and marketing) at any time in Settings → Privacy. We do not sell your personal data.
Households and shared data
Norrith lets you form a two-person household and choose, per account, budget, and goal, what to share with the other member: from nothing, to an account's balance and budget totals only, to the full account with every transaction. You control your own sharing settings, and you can change them or leave the household at any time.
- Invitations. You are responsible for who you invite. Only invite someone you intend to share financial information with, and only accept an invitation from someone you trust.
- What the other member sees. When you mark something as shared, the other member can see the shared information for as long as it stays shared, and shared budgets and goals combine both members' totals. An account shared at the balance-and-budget-totals level never exposes your individual transactions. Full details of each sharing tier are in the app and in our Privacy Policy.
- Leaving. Either member can leave the household. Leaving stops future sharing; it does not retroactively erase information the other member could already see while you were sharing.
- No agency. Members act for themselves. One member's sharing choices, budgets, or goals do not bind the other, and Norrith is not responsible for how a household member uses information you chose to share with them.
Acceptable use
Don't misuse the Service. You agree not to: break the law; access others' data without permission; reverse-engineer, scrape, or disrupt the Service; upload malware; or use the Service to build a competing product. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.
Payments and subscriptions
Norrith is offered as a paid subscription. Pricing, billing cycle, and the 7-day free trial are shown at purchase and on our pricing page. Subscriptions are sold through the Apple App Store: when you subscribe inside the iOS app, Apple charges your Apple Account, and your subscription is governed by Apple's Standard EULA and refund policy in addition to these Terms. Apple handles all payment-card data; Norrith never sees or stores your card number.
Free trials and auto-renewal. If you start a free trial, your trial will automatically convert to a paid subscription at the end of the trial period unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends. Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period unless you cancel. Apple surfaces reminders before any conversion or renewal, but it is your responsibility to manage your subscription.
Cancelling. Cancel any time from your Apple Account settings (Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions → Norrith). Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current paid period.
Refunds. App Store purchases are refunded by Apple under their refund policy; Norrith cannot reverse App Store charges directly. For help with a refund request, email support@norrith.com.
Price changes. If we change Norrith subscription pricing, existing subscribers will be notified at least 30 days before the change takes effect, with the opportunity to cancel before the new price applies.
Intellectual property
Norrith, the Norrith name and logo, and the Service (excluding your data) are owned by Norrith Labs Inc. and protected by law. We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the app for your own personal use. All rights not granted are reserved.
Disclaimers
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement. We don't warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that data will be accurate or complete.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Norrith Labs Inc. and its officers, directors, employees, and suppliers won't be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, data, or goodwill, arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or CAD $50.
Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold Norrith harmless from claims and expenses arising out of your misuse of the Service or violation of these Terms.
Termination
You can stop using Norrith and delete your account at any time from within the app. We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms or to protect the Service. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (e.g., 10–13) will survive.
If we wind down the Service. If Norrith is ever discontinued, we will give you reasonable advance notice in-app and by email, and we will keep the data-export feature available for a minimum of 30 days from the wind-down announcement so you can take a full copy of your transactions, accounts, budgets, and goals (CSV and JSON formats). After that window your data will be permanently deleted from production systems in accordance with the schedule described in the Privacy Policy.
Changes to the Service or Terms
We may update the Service and these Terms. If we make material changes, we'll provide reasonable notice (for example, in-app or by email). Continued use after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.
Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable there, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. The courts located in Ontario will have exclusive jurisdiction, except where applicable consumer-protection law gives you the right to bring a claim elsewhere.
Dispute resolution
If you have a problem with Norrith, please first reach out to contact@norrith.com. Most issues can be resolved that way without escalation.
Any dispute that cannot be resolved informally will be brought in the courts of the Province of Ontario, except that either party may bring a claim within the monetary limit of the appropriate small-claims court in their place of residence. Both parties waive any right to trial by jury and any right to participate in a class action arising from these Terms or your use of the Service, to the extent permitted by law.
Force majeure
Neither party will be liable for failure to perform, or for delay in performing, any obligation under these Terms when that failure or delay is caused by circumstances beyond reasonable control, including natural disasters, pandemics, acts of government, war, civil unrest, labour disruptions, or failures of third-party infrastructure (such as our cloud-hosting, identity, or bank-connection providers).
Severability & entire agreement
If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in full effect, and the unenforceable provision will be replaced by an enforceable provision that comes closest to the parties' original intent.
These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy and any plan-specific terms presented to you at purchase, constitute the entire agreement between you and Norrith Labs Inc. regarding the Service, and supersede any prior or contemporaneous agreements on the same subject.
Our failure to enforce any right or provision is not a waiver of that right or provision. You may not assign or transfer these Terms without our written consent; we may assign these Terms (including in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets).
Apple App Store terms
If you download Norrith from the Apple App Store, you acknowledge: these Terms are between you and Norrith, not Apple; Apple has no obligation to provide support or maintenance for the app; Apple isn't responsible for any product warranties or claims relating to the app; and Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and may enforce them.
