Terms of Service
The short version
Norrith is a personal finance app. You get access to a Free tier forever, with optional Pro features for $9.99/month or $79/year. We're not a bank. Nothing in the app is financial, tax, or legal advice. We do our best to keep the service running and your data safe, but use Norrith at your own risk and verify anything important with the source (your bank, your accountant). You can cancel any time inside Apple's subscription settings. We can suspend accounts that abuse the service. Disputes are governed by the laws of Ontario, Canada.
Accepting these terms
By downloading, installing, or using the Norrith iOS application or this website, you agree to these Terms of Service ("Terms") and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use Norrith.
The service
Norrith ("the service") is a personal financial-tracking application provided by Norrith Technologies Inc., a corporation incorporated in Ontario, Canada. The service lets you connect bank, credit, and brokerage accounts via Plaid Canada, view aggregated balances and transactions, set budgets and goals, and receive insights. The service is currently available only on iOS, in Canada.
We may add, change, or remove features at our discretion. Material changes will be communicated through the app.
Eligibility
To use Norrith you must be at least 16 years old and able to enter into a binding contract under Canadian law. You may not use the service if you are barred from doing so under the laws of your jurisdiction.
Your account
You are responsible for keeping your account credentials, your Apple ID, and your device passcode and biometric enrolment secure. You are responsible for activity that occurs under your account. If you suspect unauthorized access, contact us immediately at security@norrith.com.
You may not register an account on behalf of another person without their authorization, or use false information to register.
Subscriptions & billing
Free tier. Free forever for up to two linked institutions and the features listed on our pricing page.
Pro tier. $9.99 CAD per month, or $79 CAD per year (a 34% discount). Pro unlocks unlimited linked accounts, investment tracking, AI insights, household sharing, anomaly alerts, and the other features listed on the pricing page.
Billing. All Pro subscriptions are billed through the Apple App Store. Apple's billing terms apply in addition to these Terms. Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period unless you cancel at least 24 hours before renewal.
Cancelling. Cancel any time in iOS Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions → Norrith. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current paid period; you retain access to Pro features until then. No refunds for partial periods.
Refunds. Refunds are handled by Apple per Apple's policies. Norrith does not directly process refunds and cannot reverse App Store charges.
Price changes. If we change Pro pricing, existing subscribers will be notified at least 30 days before the change takes effect and given the option to cancel before the new price applies.
Third-party services
Norrith relies on Plaid Canada Inc. for bank connections, Apple Inc. for distribution and billing, AWS for hosting, Cloudflare for DNS, and Resend for email delivery (see our Privacy Policy for the full list). Your use of these third-party services is subject to their own terms. We are not responsible for third-party service outages or errors, but we work to minimize their impact on you.
Specifically: read-only bank data is fetched via Plaid Canada. If Plaid cannot reach your bank, Norrith cannot either. We will surface a clear status indicator when this happens.
Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use Norrith to commit fraud, launder money, or evade taxes.
- Connect accounts you do not own or are not authorized to view.
- Reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract source code.
- Use automated tools to scrape Norrith data outside of the official export features.
- Attack the service (DoS, intrusion attempts, malware).
- Resell, sublicense, or distribute access to Pro features.
- Violate any applicable law in your use of the service.
Violations may result in suspension or termination of your account without refund.
Your data
You retain all rights to the data you bring into Norrith (account information, manual entries, notes, tags). We do not claim ownership of your financial data. You grant us a limited, revocable licence to process this data solely to provide the service to you, as described in the Privacy Policy.
You can export your data at any time in CSV or JSON format from inside the app. Export is available on every tier, including Free.
Our intellectual property
The Norrith name, logo, "Notch" mark, the Aurora colour token, app design, source code, and documentation are owned by Norrith Technologies Inc. and protected by Canadian and international intellectual-property laws. You receive a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the app for personal, non- commercial purposes while these Terms remain in effect.
Disclaimers
Not financial advice. Norrith displays information about your finances and provides analytical insights, but it is not a financial planner, accountant, tax preparer, or registered investment advisor. Nothing in the app is financial, tax, or legal advice. Consult qualified professionals before making decisions.
Not a bank. Norrith is not a chartered bank or deposit-taking institution. We do not hold your money. We display balances and transactions reported to us by your banks via Plaid.
"As is." The service is provided as is and as available, without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, or the accuracy or completeness of data received from third-party institutions. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim all such warranties.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by Canadian law, Norrith Technologies Inc. and its directors, officers, employees, and contractors will not be liable to you for any indirect, incidental, consequential, special, exemplary, or punitive damages — including lost profits, lost data, business interruption, or any damages arising from third-party services (including Plaid, Apple, AWS, Cloudflare) — even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.
Our total aggregate liability to you for all claims arising from or relating to the service will not exceed the greater of (a) the amount you paid Norrith in the 12 months preceding the claim, or (b) CAD $100.
Indemnity
You agree to indemnify and hold Norrith Technologies Inc. harmless from any claim, demand, loss, or damage arising from your breach of these Terms, your misuse of the service, or your violation of any law or third-party right.
Termination
By you. You can delete your account at any time from inside the app. Deletion triggers a 30-day soft-delete window after which your data is permanently erased (see Privacy Policy).
By us. We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms, abuse the service, or if required by law. We will give you reasonable notice where possible.
On termination, your right to use the service ends. Sections of these Terms that by their nature should survive termination (intellectual property, disclaimers, liability, governing law, etc.) will survive.
Governing law & dispute resolution
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles.
You agree to attempt informal resolution of any dispute first by contacting legal@norrith.com. If a dispute cannot be resolved informally, both parties consent to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Ontario, Canada.
Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be announced in the app and via email at least 30 days before they take effect. Continued use of the service after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
